Field preparation
- Four to five ploughings and levelling of land is needed
- Raised beds are preferred to flat beds
a. Raising seedlings
- Raise the bed to 15cm height
- Seeds are sown in a line 8-10cm
- Mulching after seed sowing
- Irrigate immediately
b. Seed rate-
- Chilli- 50-60 gm/ropani
- Sweet pepper- 50-75 gm/ ropani
c. Spacing
- Chilli : Dwarf varieties- 45 x 30
- Tall varieties- 60 x 30
- Sweet pepper- 60 x 30
d. Manuring and Fertilizer
- Chilli- Compost- 1 mt/Ropani, NPK- 3, 2, 2 kg
- Sweet peper- Compost- 1 mt/Ropani, NPK- 4, 3, 3 kg per ropani
- Application- Compost and 2kg N, PK as basal dose,
- 5 kg of N after one month of transplanting
- 5 kg of N during two month of transplanting
e. Irrigation:
- 10-15 days interval in winter and 7-10 days in summer
- Over irrigation or too much moisture for a longer period delays or restricts flowering
f. Intercultural operations:
- Hoeing or earthing up should be done twice, once after 20-25 days and secondly in 40-50 days after seedling transplanting
