Field Preparation
- Soil is prepared by ploughing 2 – 3 times with soil turning plough followed by 1 – 2 harrowing and leveling.
- Provision should be made for irrigation channels for winter and summer crops and drainage for rainy season crop.
Manure and Fertilizer:
- FYM/Compost 20-25 Mt
- 15 – 30 Kg nitrogen, 50 Kg P2O5 and 60 Kg K2O per hectare gives a good yield.
- The total amount of compost and chemical fertilizers should be applied at the time of field preparation.
- No side dressing is needed for legume crops.
- Phosphorus and Molybdenum enhance nodulation.
- Foliar application of 0.1% ammonium Molybdate at the time of flowering showed favorable effect on yield and quality of Peas.
Sowing Time:-
- In plains: – October to end of November
- In hills: – 15 March to end of May
Spacing:-
- Early cultivars:- 30 cm X 5 cm
- Mid and late cultivars:- 45 cm X 5 – 7 cm
Sowing Method
- Sowing is done by hand, drilling and dibbling.
