Field Preparation:-

• One or two deep ploughings followed by 3 – 4 light ploughings and planking is essential to get the soil to the fine tilth.
• There should not be crop/weed stubbles and roots in the field.
• Beds of convenient length, 1.0 – 1.5 m wide and 0.15 m high are prepared just after pre-monsoon showers leaving the spacing of 45 cm between the beds

Sowing/Planting Time:-

• Planting time of ginger depends on climatic condition of the location in Nepal,
• Mid Hill = Chaitra-Baisakh

Seed Rate (Rhizome) : 120Kg/Ropani

Size of Seed Rhizomes : 30-50 gram with at least two buds

Length of Seed Rhizomes : 2.5-5 c m length

Planting Depth : 4-5 c m

Spacing : Row to Row : 30 c m Plant to Plant : 25 c m

Method of Planting :

• Furrow planting in upland areas , 15 c m deep furrow are made.
• Ridge planting or raised bed in low land , ridge height 25 c m high
