Insects and pests:-

a) Aphids

• Aphids are the more serious pests of root crops. Damage and control measures are similar as mentioned in cauliflower.

b) Mustard saw fly

• This is the most common pest in raddish and turnip.
• It attacks when the crop are in vegetative and flowering stage.
• This damage is done by the larvae by bitting in the leaves and pods.

Control measures:-

• Hand picking and destruction of larvae.
• Spray malathion @ 1ml/lit of water.

c) Flea beetle

• Adults eat the vegetative part of the plant causing small holes.

Control measures:

• Spray malathion @ 10-15 days interval.
• Spray quinalphos (0.05%).
