Onion varieties are classified according to the color of skin.

a) Red skin:- Patna Red, Nasik Red, Pune Red, Red Creole, N-53 (Niphad-53), Pusa Red, Agrifound Dark Red, Agrifound Light Red, Nuwakot Local, Arka Pragati, Arka Bindu, Arka Kalyan, Pusa Ratnar, etc.

b) White skin: – White Grano, Nasik White, White Globe, Pusa White Flat, Pusa White Round

c) Yellow skin: – Early Grano, Yellow Bermuda, Brown Spanish etc.
