Physiological disorder

a) Fruit cracking

  • May be caused by long dry followed by heavy rainfall or irrigation or boron deficiency
  • Big difference between day and night temp. may also cause the problem

b) Sun scald

  • Caused by high temp. (>40°C)
  • Lesion appear at the beginning followed by fungal attack
  • Less prominent in erect type plant

c) Puffiness

  • Mainly due to poor fertilization
  • Extremely low or high soil moisture may lead to poor fertilization
  • Regular irrigation and spraying boron may reduce the problem
