Transplanting:-

Seedlings become ready transplanting within 40 – 60 days. Transplanting of seedlings is done in the well prepared field at spacing of 60 cm×20 cm between and within rows. In direct sown crop proper spacing is kept by thinning. The spacing within rows can be reduced to 10 cm under rich soils.

Manures and fertilizers:-

Celery requires a well prepared, heavily manured soil but to its shallow root system, major portion of plant nutrients are drawn from top soil. FYM @ 25 – 30 tones/ha should be incorporated in the soil at the time of land preparation. Generally 200 kg N, 100 kg P and 150 kg K should be applied to raise a good celery crop. Complete doses of phosphate, potash and half dose of nitrogen should be applied before transplanting. The rest of nitrogen is given in 2 – 3 equal split doses after 40, 80 and 120 days of planting. Foliar application of 50 ppm nitrogen can be given frequently to enhance the plant growth. Ca, g and B are also required in sufficient quantity for raising a healthy crop.
