Role of veterinarian in Animal cruelty investigation

  • Primary role of forensic veterinarian or pathologist is to conduct a separate, parallel and independent investigation of suspected animal cruelty.
  • Both forensic veterinarian and pathologist are a capable team, when working together, as many aspects of investigation may land at interface of clinical forensic medicine and forensic pathology. For example, injury patterns observed in live clinical patients are often similar to those observed in dead animals at necroscopy.
