Floating method

Advantages of Floating Method

Disadvantages of Floating Method
- High initial setup cost: Requires air pumps, floating rafts, and large nutrient tanks.
- Energy requirement: Aeration needs continuous electricity supply.
- Root disease risk: Stagnant or poorly aerated solution can encourage pathogens like Pythium.
- Not suitable for heavy crops: Large fruiting plants (tomato, cucumber, capsicum) are less compatible due to weight and nutrient demand.
- Temperature fluctuations: Nutrient solution is sensitive to environmental temperature changes.
- Regular monitoring required: pH, EC (electrical conductivity), and dissolved oxygen levels must be checked often.
- Algal growth: If light penetrates the solution, algae can compete with plants for nutrients.
