Loads carried by protected structure

a. Dead load

  • Weight of all permanent structures
  • These are relatively constant weight over long duration of time
  • Includes construction material, cladding material, heating and cooling equipment, water pipes and fixed service equipment

 

b. Live load/dynamic load

  • Temporary, short duration and moving loads
  • Includes working human load, plant load, hanging basket, germination trays, etc.
  • The greenhouse has to be designed for a maximum of 15 kg square meter live load

 

c. Environment loads

  • Wind load : The structure should be able to withstand winds of 130 km/hour and at least 50 kg/square meter of wind pressure
  • Snow load/ rain/ hail: These are to be taken as per the average snowfall of the location.
