Parts of greenhouse

  • Side wall: Supports the trusses and bears the weight
  • Curtain wall: The first several feet of sidewall above the soil line
  • Sill: Top of the curtain wall
  • Eave: Where sides of the greenhouse join the roof
  • Truss: Structural component that supports the weight of the greenhouse roof.
  • Purlin: Purlins run along the length of the greenhouse
  • Ridge: Where the roofs come together at the top of the ( with or without vent)
  • Side posts and columns: Vertical supports that dictate the height of the production area
  • Sash bar/ rafter: Run perpendicular to the purlins
