History of chemotherapy:

It is mainly divided into three period:

  1. Before Ehrlich’s period (till 1900):
  • Usage of chaulmogra oil by Hindu in leprosy.
  • Cinchona bark for fever
  • Mouldy curd by Chinese on boils
  • Mercury by paracelsus for syphilis.

 

  1. Ehrlich’s period (1900-1930):
  • Organometallic dye for treatment for care.

 

  1. After Ehrlich’s period (1930 to till):
  • Discovery of sulphonamide.
