Red cotton bug (Dysderus koeinigii ,pyrrhocoridae , Hemiptera )

Damaging stage :Nymph and Adult.

Symptoms of damage : suck sap from green leaf and bolls open badely.

Management

  • Trap crop: okra
  • Moistened cotton seed should be hanged up in different place in the field where bugs congregate, they may get kill with kerosene water.
  • Uproot and destroy the alternate wild hosts Hibiscus asper, cannabinus and H. trionus.
  • chloropyriphos 20 EC @ 2 ml/l or Acephate 1g/l.
