Symptoms of damage :

  • Young caterpillars cause small yellow mines on leaves.
  • Scrapping of epidermal leaf tissues producing typical whitish patches on leaves.
  • Full-grown larvae bite holes in the leaves and feeds on curd.

Identification

  • Egg : light green in color, oval shaped, underside of
  • Larva : pale yellow green with fne black hair,central region of body is camparatively bigger than posterior and anterior body, if larva distrubed larva wriggle backward violently and may drop from palnt with suspended silken thread.
  • Pupa: initially green in color but in advanced stage change to brown color in open cocoon on lower surface opf leavs.
  • Adult : dimond pattern at rest condn ,brown to white trangular mark on posterior margin of front .

 

Life cycle

Egg–3-6 days–> larva –14-21 days—> Pupa –4-5 days –> Adult

 

Management

  • Cabbage and mustard (2:1) as trap
  • Tomato intercropped with
  • DBM lure @12 trap/ha
  • Larval parasitoid : diadegma semiclasum @100000/ha , cotesia
  • Bt var kurstaki @ 2g/l.
  • Neem seed kernal extract 5% or neem based pesticide .
  • Chlorontraniliprolen 1-2 ml/l.
  • Malathian 50% EC 05% soln .
