Mango shoot gall maker (Apsylla cistellata ,Psyllidae, Homoptera)
Damaging stage :- Nymph
Damaging symptom:-cone shaped gall present axillary and apical bud.
Identification :-
- Egg:- White, on either side of midribs of single leaf .
- Nymph:- flat and pale yellow color , present inside gall , if absence of young bud . Newly emerged nymph donot survive . 6 nymphal instar .
- Adult :- Black head ,thorax and light brown abdomen, ash color wing.
Management:-
- Remove egg mass from leaves , purn and defoliate new growth
- Mostly insecticideare ineffective due to nymph present inside gall
- 2-3% tar oil (Produced from coal ,wood ,petroleum or peat ) 4 times at 10 days interval during egg laying period
- Spray of metasystox 04% thrice during hatching of egg
- Mango tree sprayed with Dimethoate 0.03%result lesser number of gall
- used resistant varieties Alphanso, Himsagar, etc.
