Learn Fruit and Plantation Crop Production with Rahul

Infrastructural constraints

  • Most of fruits growing areas are in remote areas hence not accessible to motor roads and large markets. Hence, farmers are facing big problems in selling their produce which discourages them from venturing into commercial production enterprise.
  • Essential inputs such as fertilizers, plant protection chemicals and horticultural tools, etc. are not regularly available and on time, in these areas. As a result, fruit trees are nutrient deficient, untrained, unpruned and unprotected against disease and pests.
  • Because of the subsistence farming system, farmers couldn’t afford large investment and have no access to credit facility. Organized marketing channels, transportation, storage and processing facilities have not yet been developed in all fruit growing areas of the country.
