Propagation

a) By seed

  • Seed extracted from fruit berries
  • Flowering : Aug – sep
  • Fruit matures one year after flowering
  • Floatation method
  • Plant seed in bed
  • After 30 days germination occur
  • Harden in polythene bag
  • Planted in field after a year

 

b) By cutting

  • Avoid upper tender part
  • Bottom brown stem is used
  • With healthy mother leaf and axillary bud

 

Planting

  • Pit size: 30*30*30cm
  • Sept-oct
  • Single hedge- 1.2 * 0.75 m – 10800 plants/ha
  • Double hedge- 1.35 * 0.75 m * 0.75 m – 13200 plants/ha
  • Mulching is done after planting
