Scion

  • It forms the new shoot system of the graft
  • In grafting scion consists of a short piece of detached shoot which consists of short piece of detached shoot which contains several dormant buds
  • When they are united with root stock, they form stem, branches and overall framework of the plant

 

Selection of scion

  • Scion wood for grafting deciduous plant should be collected during dormant season from mother plant • For this purpose shoot of previous season growth is selected
