Whip grafting

• This is very simple technique of grafting
• Generally, one year old root stock are used and scions of matching thickness are used
• Both rootstock and scion are united and tied using polythene tape
• When union is completed, the polythene tape is cut otherwise it restricts the growth at the point of union and such plants break due to wind
• It is used for propagating walnut, apple and pear
