Introduction
Note taking is the practice of recording information from different sources and platform. By taking notes, the writer records the essence of the information, freeing their mind from having to recall everything.
Common steps of note taking
a) Don’t write down every word: The whole point is to summarize the information. So, writing every word will get you behind.
b) Decide what is important: Look for key phrases that can direct your vital piece of information.
c) Be an active reader/ listener
d) Use symbols and abbreviations: When you take notes, it is very hard to write every word. So, developing your own set of symbols and abbreviations can help to fulfill this gap.
e) Use colors: It will help you later for report writing or revising for exams.
f) Revise tour notes as soon as possible: Don’t simply write notes and forget it. Read it time and again so that it’ll stay in your mind for longer.
g) Be consistent: Try to gather information consistently throughout the lecture. Don’t lose concentration.
h) Improve handwriting: Try to write clearly and legibly throughout the process.
