Viral disease and their transmission agent

  1. Aphid: Banana top virus, Tristeza, Veinenation and woody gall, Ring spot, yellow mosaic, Beet yellow, Potato virus, Mosaic I and II.
  2. White fly: Leaf curl, yellow vein mosaic , Chilly/ cotton/ Papaya leaf curl, Mung bean yellow mosaic.
  3. Citrus psylla: Citrus greening
  4. Mealy bug: Mealy bug wilt.
  5. Thrips: Tomato spotted wilt virus
  6. Beetle: Cow pea/ squash/ brome mosaic
  7. Leaf hopper: Witches broom

  • Test of bacterial disease: Ooze test
  • Blight: Internally and externally seed borne
  • Loose smut of wheat: Internally seed borne
  • Covered smut of wheat: Externally seed borne
  • Kernal bunt of wheat: Externally seed borne
  • Foot rot/ Bakane disease: Externally seed borne
  • Chirke and Furke disease: cardamom ( Viral disease)

  2. Alternate host: Wild host of other family. Eg: Meloidogyne
