Neem              Azadirachta indica

  • It recorded fro the Terai to about 900 meters.
  • It tolerates wide range of soil except heaviest clay soil.
  • It is very sensitive to frost.
  • It coppices very well.
  • It is good for fire wood and pole production, not much for timber production.
  • There are also many uses in traditional medicines.
  • Seed ripen inJune –July and seed should be sown immediately after collection.
  • Viability is only 2 weeks.
  • 2-3 seeds should be sown directly in poly bags.
  • Very good soil in Africa produced up to 20 m3/ha annually.
