Banana pseudostem weevil ( Odoiporus longicollis, Curculionidae , Coleopteran)

• • Most active during summer and monsoon

Damaging stage:- grub and weevil .

Damaging symptom:- attack flowering and bunch formation ,jelly exudation on banana stem break apical region .

Identification :-

• Egg:- Laying in each chamber of banana stem .
• Larva :-Creamy white ,soft legless, After hatch , tunneling .
• Pupa :- Inside stem ,fibrous cocoon ,inside the stem.
• Adult:- Shiny ,reddish brown /black ,elytra cover half abdomen .

Life cycle :-

Egg—3-5 days–> larva –25-30 days–> Pupa –21-28 days—> Adult

Management :-

• Used healthy sucker
• Field sanitatin.
• Pseudo stem trapping.
• Entomo pathogenic fungi (Beauveria bassiana) .
• Cosmo lure trap @ 5 trap/ ha
• Botanical extract like annosome @ 2ml/lit of water 3 times at 10 days
• Fumigation of bored hole with aluminum phosphate  @ 2 tablet , 5gm/ plant .
• Chloropyrifos 20EC @ 5 ml/L ,Malathiane 50 EC @2ml/L
