Brinjal fruit and shoot borer (Leucinoides orbonalis, Pyralidae , Lepidioptera)

Damaging stage: larva
Damaging symptoms : wilting and dropping of leaves and apical shoot, caterpillar also bore the fruit.
Identification:
- Egg: single or cluster on flower, bud, and other parts.
- Larva: creamy white (young ), light pinkish in color at later stage.
- Pupa: silken cocoon on plant debris or stem or fruit.
- Adult: white wings having triangular brown red marking on forewings and black patches on cross vein on hindwings
Life cycle:
Egg—3-5 days–> Larva –10-15 days–> Pupa –6-8 days–> Adult
Management:
- Pheromone trap: leucin trap
- Delta trap and otta trap
- Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki.
- Larval parasitoid: bracon wasp
- Egg parasitoid: trichogramma chilonis
- Maize cropped as barrier.
