Cotton jassid ( Amrasca biguttaula, Cicadellidae, Homoptera )

Damaging stage: Nymph and Adult

Symptoms of damage ;

  • Leaves turns pale then rust develop at edge
  • Leaf curl down, dry and fall

Cotton Leafhoppers, Amrasca biguttula (Ishida, 1913) (Hemiptera:  Cicadellidae), Identified as a New Species on Okra and Guinea Sorrel in  Niger

Identification

  • Egg : pale green, cluster,laying egg in the soft plant
  • Larvae : green color , smaller than adult in
  • Adult : yellowish green or white balck spot on the forwings.

Management

  • Predatory bug likr lady bird beetle and
  • Seed treatment (imidachlopride 70 WS @10g/kg seed) at the time of sowing .
  • Apply dimethoate 400ml/acre at the time of high infestation, no more than

 

Note : imidaclhopride and dimethoate can have non target effect.
