Jute hairy caterpillar (Splilarctia oblique, Arctiidae, Lepidioptera)
Damaging stage: larva
Damaging symptoms: scrap the green parts of leaves, in severe condition only leaves midribs and cross vein and completely skeletonized the jute plants.
Identification
- Egg: underside of leaves
- Larva: yellow hairy and brownish red.
- Pupa: soil, leaves.
- Adult: brown color, black spot on wings.
Life cycle:
Egg -1 weeks–> larva –2-3 weeks—> Pupa –6-7 days–> Adult
Management
- Make trench and irrigate.
