Identification

  • Egg: make holes in the stem and lay eggs, eggs are generally laid at” the base of the petiole or in the basal region of the stem.
  • Grub: Grub damage the fiber bundles and a resultsof injury,mucilaginous and gummy substance produced n the stem and produced in the stem and produced knot on the fiber. Fiber having knot called knotty fiber.

  • Adult: Brown or dull color, white setae on body.

 

Management

  • The pest may be suppressed by the removal and destruction of infested plants at the time of thinning the crop and by collecting and destroying the stubble after harvest.
  • Spray 5 kg of carbaryl 50WP in 625 L of water per ha.
