Damaging stage: Nymph and Adult

Tessaratoma papillosa

Damaging symptom:

  • Suck sap from small fruits, and
  • Flower Base of leaf, flower and peduncle
  • Flower and fruit dropping

 

Identification

  • Egg: green color, cluster, upper leaf surface
  • Nymph: first bluish brown and turn reddish blue
  • Adult: reddish brown

 

Life cycle:

Egg–5-12 days–> Nymph –2-35 days–> Adult

 

Management

  • Practice field sanitation, the adult and nymphs can be collected by shaking the trees, removing the dense bushes and large tress around the periphery of litchi orchard.
  • Use any systemic nature of pesticides to control them
