Identification
- Egg: White, ventral surface of leaves.
- Larva: dirty white, 5 longitudinal stripes
- Pupa: inside the stalk.
- Adult : straw color, balck or brown patches distribute forewings, concentrated of spot is higher in forewings with pointed head. Hindwings are white and lighter.
Life cycle:
Egg –7 days–> Larva –21 days–> Pupa –7-9 days–> Adult
Management
- Ratooning practice should be discouraged.
- Uprooting, field sanitation, crop
- Light trap.
- Trichogramma chilonis @50000/ha
- Release tachinid parasitoid: Sturmiopsis inferens @ 125 gravid
- Granulosis virus @500lit/ha
- Intercropped with dhaicha, green gram, black gram.
- Chloropyrifos 1kg/ha.
