Sugarcane leaf hopper( Pyrilla perpusilla, Lophopidae , Hemiptera)
Damaging stage: Nymph and Adult
Damaging symptoms:
- suck sugary substance from sugarcane and excrete the honey dew

Identification
- Egg::cluster on the ventral surface of leaf and covered with whitish fluffy
- Nymph: pale yellow color, two white prominent feather like filament at tail.
- Adult: straw color, prominent red eye with pointed head, wedge shape
Life cycle:
Egg—-7-12 days—> Nymph –24-65 days–> Adult
Management
- Dusting with the nicotine dust
- Reduced N2
- Predator: rove beetle on egg of leaf
- parasitoid: Epiricrania melanoleuca @8000 -10,000 cocoon /ha.
