Tomato leaf miner(Tuta absoluta, Gelichiidae,Lepidioptera )

  • Most destructive pest of  tomato.

Damaging stage : larva

Damaging syptoms : mining of leaves, puncture marks, abnormal shape, exist hole , frass.

Identification

  • Egg : creamy white to yellow, single , underside of leaf.
  • Larva : creamcolor , dark stripes on
  • Pupa : soil,leaves , some times in stem,brown .
  • Adult: silverish greay scales, black spot on anterior wings.

 

Life cycle:

Egg–7 days–> larva –11 days–> Pupa –5-10 days–> Adult

 

Management

  • Predator : mired bug
  • Egg parasitoid : Trichogramma chilonis
  • Larval parasitoid : Apenteles
  • Bacteria : Bt var kurstaki
  • Nematode : steinernema carpocapsae, steinernema feltidae, Heterohabditis
  • Pheromone trap: Tuta lure , water trap( container water and lure secure above the water with wire attached), sticky trap( pheromone incorporate into the sticky glue).
  • Spinosin , indoxacarb, abamectin, emamectin benzoate and cyromazin.
