Diseases

a) Brown rot (fruit rot)-

  • Caused by fungus Monilimia species.
  • Can be controlled by spraying organic fungicides before and after anthesis and at petal fall.

b) Peach rust-

  • More susceptible in cold area, yellow spot on upper and brown in bottom part of leaf and converts to dust, remove old and diseased plant and apply bordeaux mix before sprouting in cut place

c) Powdery mildew:

  • Due to fungus (Spharotheca pannosa v. persica), JH Hale is resistant to this disease and Royal gerge is susceptible to disease, Apply lime sulfer or Diathane Z 78

d) Peach leaf curl:

  • Caused by Taphrina deformand during cool and moist spring.
  • Grow specially on the epidermis and cuticle and cause the whole leaf to curl up.
  • The disease can be controlled by a fall or early spring spray of 0.2% Blitox, 0.2% Ferban and 0.2% Ziram.
