General doses of manure and fertilizers for lentil

• Full dose of N + P2O5 + K2O as basal dose at the time of sowing.

• P2O5 and K2O as band placement; 2 cm away and 2 cm deeper than the seeds.

• Nitrogen increases pod number, seed number and seed weight.

• Depending on species and stage of crop growth N requirement for optimum plant growth ranges from 2-5% of their dry weight.

• Phosphorus has important role in nodule formation and thus in N-fixation.

• During the vegetative stage the requirement of P is 0.3-0.5% of their dry weight.

• P deficiency delays flowering and reduces the number of flowers.

• Soil application of 12.5 to 15 kg zinc sulfate (ZnSO4) per ha improves yields.

• Application of 0.5 to 1.0 kg B per ha improves lentil yields; also, application of 0.5 kg ferrous sulfate per ha improves yield by 450 kg per ha over control.
