Botanical Classification of Horticulture Crops
- This is the scientific system of classification of horticultural crops
- Every species of horticulture are classified in order by this system, given as below:

The plant kingdom is divided into four divisions
a) Thallophyta
b) Bryophyta
c) Pteridophyta
d) Spermatophyta
- Most of the horticultural plants are spermatophytes
- Spermatophyta includes
i) Gymnosperm (naked ovules)
ii) Angiosperm (ovules enclosed in a carpel or ovary)

Most of vegetables, fruits and ornamentals plants belongs to class angiospermae • The class angiospermae is further divided into two orders
a) Monocotyledonae
b) Dicotyledonae
- These two orders are again divided into many groups called family
- Horticultural crops (fruits, vegetables and ornamentals plants) possess many families
