Introduction
The purpose of the discussion is to interpret and describe the importance of your findings in light of what was already known about the research problem being investigated and to explain any new understanding or insights that emerged as a result of your study of the problem. The discussion will always hook up with the introduction by way of the research questions or hypotheses you posed and therefore the literature you reviewed, but the discussion doesn’t simply repeat or rearrange the primary parts of your paper; the discussion clearly explains how your study advanced the reader’s understanding of the research problem from where you left them at the end of your review of prior research.
Importance of discussion section
The discussion section is often considered the most important part of your research paper because it focuses on
a) Interpretations: what do the results mean?
b) Implications: why do the results matter?
c) Limitations: what can’t the results tell us?
d) Recommendations: what practical actions or scientific studies should follow?
