One health
- One Health is the collaborative effort of multiple health science professions, together with their related disciplines and institutions-working locally, nationally and globally to attain optimal health for people, domestic animals, wildlife, plants and our environment. (One Health Commission, 2011)
- One Health concept was officially adopted in 1984.
- It is a concept to bring together human, animal, and environment health.
Key Principles:
- Interconnectedness: Recognizes that the health of humans, animals, and the environment are interlinked.
- Collaboration: Promotes collaboration among professionals from various disciplines, including medicine, veterinary science, environmental science, and more.
- Prevention: Emphasizes the importance of preventive measures to address health issues at the interface of humans, animals, and the environment.
- Global Perspective: Acknowledges that health challenges are global and require global cooperation.
