Pluralistic agriculture extension system

  • It is recognized that no single extension agency can offer completely a whole range of service
  • demanded by the farm communities.
  • Provisions are made to work that public sector extension work hand in hand with private sector, non-GON, GoN, cooperative society, self-help organization, community-based organization depending upon their comparative advantage.
  • Pluralism in extension can have various forms one of them is working by private firms or non-governmental organization under government led funding.
  • This type of work has been practiced in few foreign aid programs like CDP/CADP, PACT in recent years.
  • Farmers’ group approach and farmers school also been very successful approach while cooperative farming and input supply has also been taking root in extension pluralism.
