Selection of site for establishment of New farm :

  • Before selecting a site , the following points are to be considered.

a) Soil :

  • Most suitable for strong foundation
  • Loamy and gravely soil are best suited rather than clay , rainy or sandy soil.

b) land Space :

  • There should be vast area for future expansion.
  • At least 2-3 acre land for 20 cow.

Ewe / Does (Non-Pregnant)

Buck / Ram

c) Availability of water :

  • Constant supply of clean and fresh water is needed.

d) Drainage system :

  • Proper drainage of waste water, urine should be provided.
  • Prevent flood during rainfall season.

e) Electricity and transportation :

  • There should be well established network of transportation to maintain continuous supply of raw material.
  • Electricity is needed for operating various machines and is the light source to animals.

f) Protection from wind and solar radiation :

  • Tall quick growing tree should be provided in wind direction to prevent from wind and solar radiation.

g) Availability of market:

  • Farm should be away from urban areas but at same time near to city area to access market easily.

 

Advantages of good site ( Housing system )

  • Protection from Rainfall , wind , strom.
  • Protection from wild predators.
  • Effective disposal of waste and by product.
