Steps of wool shearing
- Cutter and combs should be sharp, clean and sterilized.
- The sheep should herd comfortable position.
- The skin should be stretched so that the smooth area being shorn.
- Wool fleece should be cut only once to the skin to avoid second cut. Short fibers reduce wool fleece quality.
- Belly wool, leg wool , other wool having low quality should be kept separate from high quality wool from neck , back and side region.
- Fleece should be removed in single piece . So , it will remain together when tied.
- The fleece should be packed in separate bags to prevent mixing with other wool.
