About Lesson
Soil structure
- An ideal soil (by volume) consists of 25% air, 25% water, 45% minerals, 5%OM,
- Soil structure houses these components.
- Way in which sand, silt & clay assemble.
- Primary particles (sand, silt & clay) grouped together in the form of aggregates (secondary particles)
- Nature of the arrangement of primary particles into naturally formed secondary particles, called aggregates,
- Aggregate is a group of soil particles cohering in such a way that they behave mechanically as a unit.
- Natural aggregates-peds; artificially formed soil mass-clod.
- The peds reunite to form soil structure.
