1. Its absence would not trigger ripening.
2. Other compounds cannot duplicate its ripening action.
3. Immediate respiratory response is obtained by exogenous application of ethylene.
4. It is necessary to complete various relation of ripening.
5. Its production occurs just before the onset of climacteric.
6. The internal concentration before the climacteric rise is physiologically active.
