Care and Management of Dry cow
- Treatment of udder with intermammary antibiotics help resolve mastitis and new infection.
- Formulate vaccination at every dry stage. i.e. for salmonella and mastitis 12 weeks prior to calving.
- Prevent overcrowding as it causes spread of contagious disease. Maintain space of 75-100 sq. feet per cow and provide bedding with straw and shavings.

Care and Management of Pregnant cow and buffalo
- Pregnant animal refers to the stage after the fertilization when the fetus starts to develop inside the womb of the animal.

a) Avoid disturbance as can cause abortion.
b) Provide concentrate feed 3.5 kg/day, 25-35 kg green fodder/day and 5 kg paddy straw/day.
c) Avoid long distance travel and slippery condition in shed.
d) Avoid fighting or chasing
e) Separate animal from the herd.
f) Provide adequate clean water and protect against extreme climate.

Care and Management of lactating cow
- Protect animal against extreme weather.
- Provide clean and comfortable houses.
- Hygiene and sanitation of cattle shed and animals.
- Periodical vaccination against rinderpest, Black quarter and Anthrax once in a year; FMD once in 4 months.
- Separate lactating animal according to yield capacity.
