Present situation of horticultural crops production in Nepal

  • Subsistence type of production
  • Lack of market oriented commercial production i.e., limited or concentrated near the city areas e.g., vegetable production in roadside in Bhaktapur, Dhading.
  • Cereal and cash crops are comparatively low in hills so APP emphasis more on the high value low volume crops e.g., Vegetable seed, APP season vegetable, Floriculture
  • In Nepal fruits occupy 1.7 % of cultivated land and vegetable 5.4%
