a) Genetic Biodiversity:

  • Refers to variation of genes and or genomes within living organism.
  • If a species is to survive, it needs some genetic diversity.

b) Species biodiversity:

  • Species refers to a population of organism whose members are able to interbred freely under natural conditions.
  • Species diversity is used to describe the frequency and variety of species in the globe.

 

c) Ecosystem biodiversity:

  • Refers to the variety of habitats, biotic communities and their change in composition and structure over time and ecological processes in the biosphere.
