Introduction

The loss of water from aerial parts of the plant body is called transpiration. It is of four types:-

1. Cuticular transpiration:

                                The loss of water from cuticle or epidermal cells of leaves are cuticular  transpiration. By cuticular transpiration about 3-10 % of total water is lost.

2. Lenticular transpiration:

                                 The loss of water through lenticles found in epidermal layer of woody branches of the trees is called lenticular transpiration. About 0.5% of total transpiration  takes place by this method.

3. Bark transpiration:

                            It occurs through corki covering of stem. About 0.3% of water is lost by this method.

4. Stomatal transpiration:

                              This transpiration takes place by stomata which is found on leaves and also in young stem, leaves and flowers. About 95% of transpiration takes place by this method.
