Basic concept
- Social interaction is defined as the dynamic interplay of forces in which contact between persons and groups takes place which then results in a modification of attitudes and behaviour of the participants.
- Social interaction takes a repetitive pattern in a specific direction and it becomes “social process”. Social processes then denote to “repetitive forms of behaviour “which are commonly found in social life.
Aspect of social interaction
- Social contact: without social contact interaction is not possible.
- Communication: communication in some form is essential to social interaction; without communication people cannot react to one another.
- Social structure: Social structure, for example, social norms, roles, status and values which determine behaviour during interaction or specify the rules of the game.
- Forms of interaction: society is an expression of different social process. Society is integrated in different ways such as accommodation, adjustment, assimilation, amalgamation, conflict, competition, cooperation and others.
