Factors of social movement
a. Cultural drift
- In the course of cultural drift most of the people develop new ideas.
- To get these ideas operative in the society they organize a movement, such as removal of untouchability, removal of gender discrimination and brings gender equitable society are the examples of cultural drift.
b. Social disorganization
- Social disorganization brings confusion and uncertainty because the old traditions no longer form a dependable guide to behaviour.
- The individuals become rootless and thus they feel isolated from the society. At that time a feeling could develop that the community leaders are indifferent to their needs. Hence, the individual feel unsecured, confused and frustrated. This sort of confusion and frustration may produce social movement.
c. Social injustice
- When a group of people feel that injustice has been done on behalf of their interest and hence, they become frustrated and alienated. Such feeling of injustice provides social movement.
- On the other hand, where society is disorganized and people are dissatisfied with the present social condition, certainly in this situation social movement begins
