Forms of accommodation
a. Compromise
When a compromise is made each side agree to give up some of its demands for the sake of resolving the conflict.
b. Conversion
One of the groups accepts and adopts the views of the other
c. Arbitration
Problem is the submitted to a mutually agreeable third group who acts as a mediator. The third group has no power, but acts as an adviser and counselor in helping the conflicting party come to an agreement.
d. Tolerance
In this form of accommodation, interacting parties agree to disagree. Each party hold its own position, but respect the fact that the other party has an opposing view point. They “tolerate “each other despite the fact that the basic issue is not eliminated.
e. Truce
A truce is an accommodation in which the conflicting parties agree to stop the conflict for a period of time so that negotiation may take place.
f. Displacement
Termination of one conflict by replacing it with another.
