  • GAD approach emerged as an alternative to WID approach in which women were viewed as passive recipient of assistance, GAD views women as active participants of development
  • GAD approach starts from the holistic perspective looking at the totality of social economic and political organization.
  • GAD approach critically examines the analysis of underlying assumption of current social, economic and political structure and ensuring equity and equality for women in development
  • It does not assume that men are active invariably wrong-headed or wicked aggressive and power possessed not it is assumed that women by essence have some greater power and understanding that men
