Fungi
- have filamentous, hyaline, thin-walled vegetative body
- The filament of fungi is hyphae and group of hyphae is mycelium.
- have thick cell wall made up of polysaccharide nearly always with chitin micro fibrils.
- Motile stages are absent (Never form flagella).
- Mycelia may be coenocytic (aseptate or septate)
- Asexual reproduction is by variety of spores:Conidia, Chlamidospore
- Sexual spores are also produced. But not reported in Deuteromycetes.
- Large sexual fruiting body; ascocarp in ascomycetes (ascospores are formed with mother cell ascus) Basidiocarp in Basidiomycetes (basidiospores are formed exogenously)
